In March, Mercy Connect, along with people with intellectual disabilities, carers, family members and clinicians, was invited to participate in a co-design workshop to Help Make Virtual Care Better for People with Intellectual Disabilities.
This is new collaborative research by Western NSW LHD, South Western Sydney LHD, and Charles Sturt University’s Specialised Intellectual Disability Health Team.
Participants voted on the area of interest they wanted to discuss in further detail – Reducing anxiety while waiting for the virtual appointment.
From the workshops that have been conducted, the project team will collate feedback and publish a research report which will be shared with people with an intellectual disability, carers, people in government, health professionals and researchers.
Mercy Connect is strongly committed to co-designing our services in partnership with people with disabilities.
