Mercy Day at the Academy of Mary Immaculate in Fitzroy was held on Friday, 11th September, celebrating the Academy “as a Mercy Community 1857-2026”. Students and staff gathered at St Patrick’s Cathedral in East Melbourne for Mass celebrated by College Chaplain Fr Michael McEntee. They were joined by Sisters of Mercy, parents, College Advisory Council members and representatives of Mercy Education and Mercy Ministry Companions.
Student musicians and singers filled the Cathedral with stirring music and song. The annual theme of ‘Courage to Care’ was reflected in the hymns and readings. The Prayers of the Faithful were read by twelve students, two from each of Years 7-12. Each prayer reflected one of the College’s values – Respect, Justice, Courage, Hospitality, Service and Compassion – and how these values were being realised during 2026.
