Celebrating the Opening of the School Year

On 12 February Trustee Director Gabrielle McMullen joined the community of St Aloysuis College in North Melbourne for the Opening School Year Mass, led by local parish priest, Fr Thang Vu.

It was a joyous occasion with active participation by the school community and introduction of the College theme for 2024: Act with Mercy, Serve with Compassion, accompanied by a quote from Catherine McAuley: “God does not look at the action, but at the spirit motivating it”.

Mass was followed by the blessing of the 2024 College badges and a ceremony of commitment for new College staff. On behalf of the College, Principal Mary Farah then made a presentation to Christopher to mark his forthcoming retirement and briefed the gathering on the College building program.

Other guests included local Sisters of Mercy; Chief Executive of Mercy Education Limited, Christopher Houlihan; and senior representatives of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic School.
