This year, Mercy Day celebrations at Mercy Connect showcased the spirit of the Mercy Connect community and the exceptional contributions of its team members. Mercy Day was celebrated over two separate weeks, with the Central West team gathering for a BBQ on the 17th September, giving staff a chance to enjoy each other’s company while reflecting on Mercy Connect’s purpose and honouring the opening of the first ‘House of Mercy’ in Ireland by Catherine McAuley.
In Albury, two days of activities kicked-off on the 23rd September with the Mercy Connect Staff Awards. Each year, a staff member who goes above and beyond in their role at Mercy Connect, and who positively represents the organisation is celebrated. This individual showcases Mercy Connect’s values each and every day as they continue to support participants to live fulfilled lives. During the year, staff had the opportunity to nominate their peers against Mercy Connect’s values of Compassion, Hospitality, Respect, Innovation, Teamwork and Accountability and these nominations culminate into our annual Shining Lamp Award.
This year’s Shining Lamp award recipient was Gloire Bashimbe – Assistant Team Leader for the Rose/Sylvania cluster. Gloire has been an integral part of the Mercy Connect team for over two years and is known for his exceptional work ethic, compassion, and leadership.
Individual staff who have served Mercy Connect for a significant number of years were also recognised through the Recognition of Service awards.
On day two of celebrations, Mercy Connect officially opened the new Reflection Garden. This serene space was designed as a place for quiet reflection, connection, and inspiration. It’s a beautiful space to visit when you need a moment of calm or simply want to enjoy the beauty of nature. big thank you to everyone involved in bringing this vision to life—it’s a lasting tribute to our Mercy history.
