The Trustee Directors of Mercy Ministry Companions warmly welcome Charles Reis, as the new Chair of Mercy Community Services Australia Ltd (MCSAL). Charles joined the board in December 2023 and has enjoyed visiting each of the ministries of MCSAL over the summer.
Charles Reis has held executive leadership positions in listed public companies, government organisations and the not-for-profit sector. He has worked as Head of Strategy and has led teams focussing on global strategy development and business performance. He is Co-Chair and Company Secretary of the Saltbush Family Centre (Kildare Ministries), supporting families with children with disabilities, women escaping domestic violence, victims of torture and disadvantaged families. He has Chaired and has been a committee member of a number of not-for-profit community organisations.
Mr Reis’ appointment as Chair ensures continuous experienced leadership of the MCSAL Board and ongoing focus on mission, as it prepares for the transition of the governance responsibility from the MacKillop Family Services Board to the MCSAL Board from 1 July 2024.
Margaret Bounader, MMC Chair, said:
“The Trustee Directors very much look forward to working with Charles in the role as Chair of the MCSAL Board – he brings a huge breadth of knowledge and experience across multiple sectors and will provide important support for MCSAL directors as we position the MCSAL ministries for continued growth and success. On behalf of the Trustee Directors, I would also like to acknowledge and thank Matthew Clancy for his invaluable contribution as the inaugural Chair of MCSAL.”
Charles Reis, the incoming MCSAL Chair, said:
“Mercy Community Services Australia works for and serves the most marginalised members of our community. The ministries that make up our group have a long tradition of putting first those who don’t always have a voice, and providing an environment of dignity and hope. I can’t think of a more inspiring leadership opportunity, and look forward to meeting the dedicated people who deliver our services; and working with the Board to deliver our long-term strategy. My vision is to ensure that we build on Mercy Ministry Companions’ foundational strengths of client focus, quality care, professional excellence and organisational stewardship.”
